Our Belief:
“By promoting Islamic arts, we aim to foster mutual understanding and revive the tradition of excellence in beautifying life’s elements—homes, clothing, food, and worship—as God is beautiful and loves beauty.”
History:
Founded in 2019, MANC unites local creatives to challenge stereotypes about Islam through art. Our first festival, TIFA, launched in 2021 and evolved into MANC FEST in 2024.
Quote from Founder (Abdah Khalifa):
“Growing up in the West, Islam was portrayed as violent and ugly. Through Islamic art, we aim to highlight its divine beauty and excellence (ehsan).”
Muslim Artists of North Carolina was founded in 2019 as a way to bring together local creatives and allow them to see their collective potential for changing the negative stereotypes surrounding Islam and Muslims.
We believe the beauty of Islam speaks for itself through Islamic art, food, hospitality and Islamic manners and would like to bring the rich history of Islamic centers of Art like Spain, Istanbul, Bukhara, Samarkand, Lahore, Isfahan to our area in order to share this tradition with the local youth and community.
Our mission is to support local Muslim artists, creatives, and emerging talent, and showcase the rich heritage of Islamic arts and contemporary works by organizing engaging events that celebrate Islamic values and culture
